2/07/09 There's no place like home !

You know that old saying “There's no place like home” well it sure rings true after a few days in the hospital. We were able to go home on Friday afternoon {a day early} surprisingly enough due to one of the nurses inadvertently pulling out my drain in my neck on Thursday night. When they saw that the neck had stopped draining they let us go ! As Peggy mentioned in her blog on Wednesday, the surgery did go well{ Thanks to all that high noon vibing that was going on!}, four hours and thirty lymph nodes later when they brought me to ICU, they put me out again and we went back in the operating room to put in a new drain. Right now I am happy to be home but looking forward to the tonsillectomy healing up, eating is a real chore and hopefully in a week or so that will will begin to get better. But for now the old vicadin will have to help us out !!

I can’t thank you enough for all the love sent my way on Wednesday, it really speaks volumes to me and makes me think that if we all put our minds together collectively there is nothing that we can’t get thru !! I will write more later when I feel up to it. Just wanted to send out a really big thank you and let you know that we are home and in one piece !!

  4. Dan, great action shot above. Wish I could've have been on staff and tracked you through the day. Thinking of you every day. We're all riding along with you up here. Ah, to feel that Boca Grande sand under our toes once again and our fingers around a glass of malbec. Sparks and filaments of energy arcing upward from everyone in Saranac L and connecting to you both in Red Creek, Bill and Marion

  11. Chocolate Cheers to you both!

I'm in Hershey for the weekend, and I will gladly raise a chocolate bar and consume it in your honor. The real thing for Peggy -- and a freezing cold chocolate shake for Dan.

  13. You look fabulous, dahling. I can't believe you got to keep your beard. A delight to hear of your early homecoming. I hope Zeus is fulfilling his footwarming obligations. And Nurse Peggy, I bet you're glad he can stand up to pee. How wonderful to be close to the milkshake and pureed chicken soup stage. I wonder what pureed pie would taste like. I hear it's pretty good for you. Rest well, dear ones. Love, Debby, Watson, Mardie and Kade
PS Thanks for you thoughtful card. Still a little raw.

  15. Wonderful news! Home is the most perfect place for healing. Great to see the thumbs up, though I must say Peggy was brave to take the pic. Amy has always given me strict orders in the hospital...no photographs! ;-) When will the Dr write the order for pie?

  16. Outstanding!!! You've been in our thoughts and prayers since you shared your news with us last month. Dorian included your blog link in a prayer request she sent out to the prayer chain at church. As it happens we signed on just in time to join the noon vibe and have been vibing continually since. Your blog is incredibly insightful and a wonderful way to link together so many caring and loving friends. We know as well as anyone the importance of living in the moment and facing life's challenges with positive energy and the love and support that comes your way. You obviously know this as well and are on the road to recovery with a boatload of love and support from many caring and loving friends. Keep up the positive energy and be well.

  18. Tonight at the Cabin Fever song fest in Galway, Dan B. acknowledged to the crowd the reason you two weren't with us just about 7:00. I felt the energy of the whole room go out to you. You've got a great chorus cheering you on on this journey. Healing's hard work but you two seem to have plenty of energy. Get some real rest - you're home. Tomorrow is another day to revel in the cardinals, the squirrels, and to make music in your hearts!
    love, Cara

  19. Auntie Em, Auntie Em, there's no place like home, there's no place like home...and it's the absolute truth. Ron still reminds me that I came home a day early, perched on the bed, with my suitcase packed and demanding to know why he wasn't there when the hospital doors opened!

You look great - and I concur with what Cara said about the Cabin Fever song fest. John shot lots of photos of all of us shouting Huzzahs!!! for you and with you!

Huzzah for healing energy from the Universe to you!!

    ...and we'll all sing along...
    Love and hugs,
    Wanda and Ron
